Would You Take an SUV into Combat?
Mike Brownfield

Should our fighting men and women be forced to drive unarmed SUVs into war zones, with speed as their only defense against rocket and car bomb attacks? Tragically, that’s a true story of U.S. military readiness today, and America’s defenses will only get worse under the drastic cuts aimed at our armed forces.

In a new video by The Heritage Foundation, combat veteran Kerry Kachejian explains why U.S. military readiness is so crucial. He has first hand experience in the matter from his experience during the reconstruction of Iraq and Afghanistan. “Because this unit was organized, staffed, equipped and deployed so quickly, there was no spare military equipment for it,” Kachejian explained. Unable to acquire the necessary armored vehicles, his unit turned to ingenuity, courage and innovative ways to get the job done, all while coming under withering assaults from the enemy.

Kachejian’s story, which is continued in new book, “SUVs Suck In Combat,” illustrates the human impact of an ill-equipped military. He tells of being jolted by a one-thousand pound truck bomb, speeding at 110 mph through the streets of Iraq, ripping tailgates off SUVs and mounting machine guns in back, and men duct-taping their body armor to their vehicles to get even the smallest level of protection. On an individual level, the lesson is clear — our men and women soldiers are risking their lives in defense of freedom, and yet they’re ill-equipped to get the job done.

But from the ground level to the global stage, a weak, unprepared military poses great threats, as well. Unfortunately, the U.S. military is in very real danger of growing weaker, losing its deterrent force, and being left unable to fight and win wars in defense of America.

There are those in Washington who believe that America can afford to slash the military in order to shift that money elsewhere. That, though, will leave the military hollow and ill-prepared for growing threats. In a newly released Heritage lecture on the Obama Doctrine of humble engagement with friends and enemies, Kim R. Holmes explains that despite the president’s claim that the world is more secure, serious threats remain, all while the military’s readiness is being depleted.

Clearly, the military is becoming weaker. You can argue that smaller is smarter, but at some point quantity matters. The military is getting smaller and weaker. It has already cancelled the F-22 and some F-35s, the C-17s are being delayed, and 100,000 forces are being taken out of the military’s end strength.

Yet Iran has become more aggressive and is closer to gaining a nuclear weapon. Russia is far more aggressive and certainly not cooperating where we really need them to cooperate, such as on Syria and Iran. Our relationship with Pakistan has deteriorated sharply. It frankly is already acting as an adversary in some areas and may become even more so in the future. . .

There’s also the question of the future in Afghanistan. The Taliban clearly think that they are winning the conflict and only need to wait us out. It is entirely possible that after 2014, there will be areas in Afghanistan that again become safe havens that the Taliban and other terrorists control.

Despite these threats — not to mention China’s growing strength and North Korea’s erratic pursuit of nuclear weapons — future defense spending will be cut across the board by nearly $500 billion beginning next year, on top of the $487 billion in cuts proposed by President Obama in February. Those cuts will leave America with a military that is less prepared to defend the nation while signaling to our enemies that we have a weaker hand to play on the world stage.

In Heritage’s video, Kachejian explains that “The big picture is, the military really is a national insurance policy. Its primary purpose is to deter war, and if you have to go to war, it has to win it as fast and inexpensively as it can.” That insurance policy is about to lapse unless Congress acts to ensure that the U.S. military has the resources it needs to effectively defend America.

Today from 9 to 10 a.m. ET, Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) will speak at The Heritage Foundation on why conservatives should fund and support a strong national defense. Click here to watch live online or view the archived video after the event.

Obama Executive Order Inches U.S. Toward World Governance
Kenneth Schortgen Jr

On May 1st, President Barack Obama signed a new Executive Order which opens the door for the United States to give up economic and environmental sovereignty through the promotion of a single international regulatory system.

This regulatory system would seek to globally streamline cooperation between nations for trade, environmental, and legislative processes on the international stage.

Section 1. Policy. Executive Order 13563 of January 18, 2011 (Improving Regulation and Regulatory Review), states that our regulatory system must protect public health, welfare, safety, and our environment while promoting economic growth, innovation, competitiveness, and job creation. In an increasingly global economy, international regulatory cooperation, consistent with domestic law and prerogatives and U.S. trade policy, can be an important means of promoting the goals of Executive Order 13563.

The regulatory approaches taken by foreign governments may differ from those taken by U.S. regulatory agencies to address similar issues. In some cases, the differences between the regulatory approaches of U.S. agencies and those of their foreign counterparts might not be necessary and might impair the ability of American businesses to export and compete internationally. In meeting shared challenges involving health, safety, labor, security, environmental, and other issues, international regulatory cooperation can identify approaches that are at least as protective as those that are or would be adopted in the absence of such cooperation. International regulatory cooperation can also reduce, eliminate, or prevent unnecessary differences in regulatory requirements.

TSA Reveals Passenger Complaints … Four Years Later

by Michael Grabell

From intrusive pat-downs to body scans to perceived profiling, the Transportation Security Administration always seems to be the target of complaints [1].

Here’s another one: It took the TSA almost four years to tell me what people complained about — in 2008 [2].

In my first week at ProPublica in June 2008, I filed a public records request for the agency’s complaint files. Such records can provide good fodder for investigations.

For example, amid the brouhaha over the agency’s introduction of intensive full-body pat-downs in 2004, I requested complaints and discovered an untold story of the pain and humiliation suffered by rape victims and breast cancer survivors. In one incident that I found from that request — while I was a reporter at the Dallas Morning News — a woman complained that a screener asked her to remove her prosthetic breast to be swabbed for explosives.

When I made a similar FOIA [3] request in 2008, I assumed the TSA would respond in a few months. Government agencies have about a month [4] to respond to public record requests, though they often take longer. I figured even if their response took months, I’d be able to repeat it regularly to get a timely, inside look as to what passengers were complaining about and find out about incidents that required some more digging.

Boy, was I wrong.

After waiting and waiting and narrowing my request and some more waiting, the files finally arrived this week.

The information is now four years old — but it echoes much of what people are still complaining about.

For instance, an elderly woman in a wheelchair was asked to walk through security and fell at Orlando International Airport.

In another case, someone expressed concerns about a lethal plastic knife [6] that can reportedly pass through metal detectors. (This was two years before the TSA widely deployed body scanners [7], which can detect plastic.)

In another complaint, a man flying to Cancun demanded an investigation after finding that the bottle of Jack Daniels he packed in his luggage was empty by the time he arrived.

Rather than let the files gather dust at the bottom of my desk drawer, I’m posting them for your perusal [2].

Why did the files take so long to release? Various FOIA officers over the years blamed the delay on the agency’s backlog and on the volume of the records that had to be reviewed. It turned out to be 87 pages.

When I reached out again today to the TSA, spokeswoman Lorie Dankers provided a statement pointing out that the agency has received an average of more than 800 requests annually over the past four years. Then the TSA apologized.

“TSA should have responded to ProPublica’s request sooner,” the statement said. “TSA currently is working on 12 requests that are more than three years old. The agency is working diligently to finalize and respond to these requests.”

I just filed my request for the 2012 complaints.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait until 2016 to see those.

The Obama government is watching Social Security be destroyed and has not made any plans to save it.

Social Security Landslide
By Greg Boots

Social Security is the foundation for most Americans’ retirement. This foundation has been built on shaky ground and what started as a falling rock has progressed into a full-blown landslide.

This time each year the Trustees of the Social Security and Medicare Trust provide the details of the account balances. Prognosis is bleak. As it currently stands, the Social Security system will be exhausted in 2033; this is a dramatic three-year increase from last year’s report. Social Security is a “pay as you go” system, which means that those of us who are currently paying into the system through our wages are unlikely to see the benefits we have been promised because our money is going to provide coverage for those who are currently drawing from the Social Security fund. As a 42-year-old worker, my expected retirement date is 2037 and unless the system is dramatically overhauled my best-case scenario will be to receive 75% of my promised benefits.

The biggest hurdle is that the problem must be fixed now, while there is still time. Earlier this year top officials from government and retirement sectors met to strategize on how to shore up the foundation before it was damaged beyond repair. The conclusion they came to was that there is a deficit between what Americans need for retirement and what they actually have. The deficit? A mind-boggling 6 trillion dollars. To give you some perspective on how large this number is, imagine stacking Dollar Bills on top of each other 6 trillion times. It would reach from the Earth to the Moon and then half way back to Earth.

Unfortunately the bad news doesn’t end there. The end of the Social Security’s Disability Fund has also moved forward by two years and is set to expire in 2016. What does this mean in real numbers? In 2011, 55 million Americans received benefits from a fund that has only four years left in its shelf life.

Thankfully, all is not lost. We all have it in our ability to provide for our own future independence and well being when it comes to retirement. There are several options when it comes to IRAs and Roth IRAs. However, if you are looking for greater control and flexibility, I strongly recommend exploring a Qualified Pension Plan. Qualified plans have several distinct advantages over IRAs, both Roth and Traditional. Unlike an IRA where you have to have a custodian, in a properly structured Qualified Plan you will serve as the Trustee of the plan assets, and why not, didn’t you work for those assets? Shouldn’t you be the one in control? As Trustee, you are not solely limited to mutual funds and covered calls. As Trustee, you can invest in any stock, future or option you deem as a prudent investment.

If you are like many of my clients, you also desire to capitalize on our current real estate market and use it as a catalyst to supercharge your retirement. In an IRA, the custodian must be involved in the real estate transactions and you are limited to only being able to have a non-recourse mortgage, which can be difficult to obtain and cost prohibitive. As Trustee of a Qualified Plan, you can simply write a check for the purchase of the real estate without the involvement of any outside parties. Additionally, you can acquire properties using traditional mortgages, which allows you to leverage the funds within the plan for accelerated growth. Another distinct advantage of a Qualified Plan is that as a participant, you can borrow from your vested account balance and use those funds how you see fit.

As today’s Social Security and Medicare Trust Report dramatically demonstrates, it is time to take control of our own retirement options. How can we build for our future when our structure is built upon unstable ground? It would be foolish to sit idly by and hope the system fixes itself.

Video Shocker:TSA Aggressively Pats Down Congressman!!

Are American citizens being exposed to Gestapo type of treatment? YOU bet they are by government thugs and perverts.

How much longer will OUR government allow American citizens be aussalted and attack in Americas airports???????
Video Shocker:TSA Aggressively Pats Down Congressman

A TV station released a video Friday showing a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) official aggressively patting down Rep. Francisco “Quico” Canseco, R-Texas.

After the incident occurred last month, Canseco described it to Fox News, saying of the TSA official, “he touched me in my private [area] and it hurt.”
Rep. Canseco has called the TSA search of his body an “assault.”

The clips obtained by San Antonio TV station KENS 5 show Canseco pushing the TSA agent’s hand away after the agent reached to examine between his legs during a pat-down, The Hill reports.

“It’s a natural reaction to move the offensive hand away, not in a violent way, and to move back,” given the aggressive touching, Canseco told Fox.

In the video, after Canseco pushes the hand away, TSA officials and San Antonio police officers gather around him, and he is patted down by another TSA officer. After the second pat-down, Canseco proceeded to board his flight.

TSA says it didn’t do anything wrong, telling The Hill in a statement, “Once a passenger enters the screening process, they must complete it prior to continuing to a flight or secure area.”

Canseco says he was singled out for another pat-down a week after the controversial incident and said that’s “not a coincidence.”

Obama to Sacrifice Chinese Dissident to Continue Trade Talks with China

These are OUR leaders? Really, leaders.
The Obama administration is evidently “willing to sacrifice” Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng to facilitate unimpeded trade talks with Beijing, a human rights activist charged Thursday.

The administration’s “true values” were emerging in its handling of the case, said Reggie Littlejohn, founder and president of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers – a group that campaigns against China’s “one-child” policy.

Littlejohn joined fellow rights advocate and former Tiananmen Square movement student leader Bob Fu at a press conference at the Heritage Foundation, in urging the administration to grant the blind activist asylum in the U.S.

After the event, CNSNews.com asked Littlejohn to comment on the administration’s approach to tackling China on its human rights violations, given Vice President Joe Biden’s remark last year that he was not “second-guessing” the one-child policy.

SEALs slam Obama for using them as ‘ammunition’ in bid to take credit for bin Laden killing during election campaign
By Toby Harnden

Serving and former US Navy SEALs have slammed President Barack Obama for taking the credit for killing Osama bin Laden and accused him of using Special Forces operators as ‘ammunition’ for his re-election campaign.

The SEALs spoke out to MailOnline after the Obama campaign released an ad entitled ‘One Chance’.
In it President Bill Clinton is featured saying that Mr Obama took ‘the harder and the more honourable path’ in ordering that bin Laden be killed. The words ‘Which path would Mitt Romney have taken?’ are then displayed.

Besides the ad, the White House is marking the first anniversary of the SEAL Team Six raid that killed bin Laden inside his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan with a series of briefings and an NBC interview in the Situation Room designed to highlight the ‘gutsy call’ made by the President.

Taking credit: President Obama has used bin Laden’s death as a campaign tool
Mr Obama used a news conference today to trumpet his personal role and imply that his Republican opponent Mr Romney, who in 2008 expressed reservations about the wisdom of sending troops into Pakistan, would have let bin Laden live.

‘I said that I’d go after bin Laden if we had a clear shot at him, and I did,’ Mr Obama said. ‘If there are others who have said one thing and now suggest they’d do something else, then I’d go ahead and let them explain it.’

How low will this Obama go?

Just more Obama..
Obama Unleashes Executive Powers
One Saturday last fall, President Obama interrupted a White House strategy meeting to raise an issue not on the agenda. He declared, aides recalled, that the administration needed to more aggressively use executive power to govern in the face of Congressional obstructionism.

“We had been attempting to highlight the inability of Congress to do anything,” recalled William M. Daley, who was the White House chief of staff at the time. “The president expressed frustration, saying we have got to scour everything and push the envelope in finding things we can do on our own.”

But increasingly in recent months, the administration has been seeking ways to act without Congress. Branding its unilateral efforts “We Can’t Wait,” a slogan that aides said Mr. Obama coined at that strategy meeting, the White House has rolled out dozens of new policies — on creating jobs for veterans, preventing drug shortages, raising fuel economy standards, curbing domestic violence and more.

For Mr. Obama, that meeting was a turning point. As a senator and presidential candidate, he had criticized George W. Bush for flouting the role of Congress. And during his first two years in the White House, when Democrats controlled Congress, Mr. Obama largely worked through the legislative process to achieve his domestic policy goals.
