Obama: I’m not trying to ‘redistribute wealth’. WTF!

President Obama, who famously called for tax increases on the wealthy to “spread the wealth around,” denied today that his tax increases on the rich are an attempt to “redistribute wealth.”

“So these investments — in things like education and research and health care — they haven’t been made as some grand scheme to redistribute wealth from one group to another,” the president said today at Florida Atlantic University. “This is not some socialist dream,” Obama added, as he called for tax increases on millionaires today to pay for those investments.

When he advocated the same plan in 2008, though, Obama described this “spread the wealth around” policy. “I’m gonna cut taxes a little bit more for the folks who are most in need and for the 5 percent of the folks who are doing very well – even though they’ve been working hard and I appreciate that – I just want to make sure they’re paying a little bit more in order to pay for those other tax cuts,” he told Samuel Wurzelbacher (aka Joe the Plumber), who is now running for Congress.

Today, Obama similarly opposed “giving those tax breaks to folks like me who don’t need them.”

In 2008, Obama summarized his plan to make the tax code fairer by saying “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” Today, he specifically distanced himself from such a characterization of his position and — as has been his recent habit — made a point of rejecting the “socialism” label.

In short: Obama was careful to avoid the “spread the wealth” phrase today, but he defended the Buffett Rule by making the “spread the wealth” argument first made in 2008.

The government interference and grab for control just doesn’t stop.

Obama’s National ID Card: Here It Comes
Written by Gary North

“Your papers, please.” As a kid, I heard radio shows where someone with a German accent would ask this. Now it’s coming to America. Only worse. There won’t be papers. There will be a plastic card backed up by a data base with your vital information in it.

The Bush Administration rammed this through in 2005. It was never implemented. States fought against it. Now Obama is trying to get it through again.

The Rutherford Institute is battling this.

The Real ID Act would essentially establish a national ID by requiring states to comply with costly and restrictive federal licensing standards aimed at creating a national database of drivers’ licenses. Alternately derided as a national ID card, a violation of the Tenth Amendment, an unfunded mandate, and a threat to civil liberties, the Real ID program has largely stalled, primarily due to mounting opposition from the states, many of which have adopted laws or resolutions opposing it. . . .

The coalition’s letter to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime is available here.

“Civil and privacy rights advocates, as well as liberal-, conservative-, and libertarian-leaning organizations, have long raised concerns that a national ID card would enable the government to track citizens and, thus, jeopardize the privacy rights of Americans,” said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute. “When all is said and done, the adoption of a national ID card serves one purpose only: to provide the government with the ultimate control over the American people.”

The Act was signed into law in 2005. It gave the states three years to comply. The data will include individual birth certificates and other personal information.

The cost? A staggering $230 million a year. States are resisting.

States must do the scanning of information. They will have to hire more staff.

Can you imagine the lines for this?

For instance, the law requires that all 245 million license and state ID holders in the United States visit their local DMVs to acquire a special identification card. Citizens who do not have this special identification by a given date will not be able to perform important yet routine tasks such as travel on an airplane, open a bank account, collect Social Security payments, enter federal government buildings or take advantage of most government services. The law requires that each person provide a photo ID, birth certificate, proof of their Social Security number and proof of residence in order to receive the identification. This information will then be stored in massive databases maintained by the states and shared among them. Once the DMV receives all the necessary information, it will issue the applicant a new identification card.

The states have been successful in delaying this. But it is clear that both political parties at the national level favor this law.

Resistance at the state level has bought us time. But it is clear what is coming. We are moving toward a police state. Our best hope is the bankruptcy of the federal government.

Big government Bill Nelson continues to to vote against seniors and middle income Americans.

Repeal Big Oil Tax Subsidies Act – Vote Rejected (51-47, 2 Not Voting)

This legislation would repeal some tax breaks for large oil and gas companies and use the revenue generated by these tax repeals to pay for an extension of renewable-energy tax credits and incentives. The bill did not receive the necessary 60 votes to end debate and is unlikely to be considered again.

Only big government elite feel higher taxes can lower gas prices. The fact is Government makes more money on a gallon of gas than the OIL companies. Look it up.
Sen. Bill Nelson voted YES……

Seniors beware, your health care is going to get much worse along with the rest of the people.

Michelle to kids: Tell grandparents they are ‘wrong’ for not voting for my husband.

April 4th, 2012

The Obama’s are just out of control. How low can they GO!!

When you can’t fool adults, go for children is the Big government totalitarian approach.

Michelle to kids: Tell grandparents they are ‘wrong’ for not voting for my husband.

Michelle Obama, who has quickly become the Obama campaign’s tip of the spear when it comes to fundraising and vote-getting, is now stumping for children to convince their “great-grandparents” to vote for her husband. At an event at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park – for which tickets cost at least $500 – Michelle said:

I mean, I can’t tell you in the last election how many grandparents I ran into who said, I wasn’t going to vote for Barack Obama until my grandson talked to me, until my great-grandson talked to me, and talked about the future he wanted for this country.

This is a hallmark of leftist campaigning – the notion that children possess some sort of inherent wisdom to which their elders must heed. It’s insulting and ridiculous, but it’s also the same sort of electioneering that got Obama elected the first time.

Obama Attacks Supreme Court: Did He Get A Leak?

April 3rd, 2012

President Obama, employing his strongest language to date on the Supreme Court review of the federal health care overhaul, cautioned the court Monday against overturning the law — while repeatedly saying he’s “confident” it will be upheld.

The president spoke at length about the case at a joint press conference with the leaders of Mexico and Canada. The president, adopting what he described as the language of conservatives who fret about judicial activism, questioned how an “unelected group of people” could overturn a law approved by Congress.

“I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress,” Obama said.

The Supreme Court spent three days hearing arguments last week in four separate challenges to the health care law, which stands as the president’s signature domestic policy accomplishment. A central challenge was over the individual mandate — the requirement that Americans buy health insurance. Critics say the mandate is unconstitutional, and that the federal government cannot force people into the insurance marketplace.

Obama: Government ‘Made This Country Great’, REALLY??

Didn’t Jimmy Carter already prove that doesn’t work??
President Obama attacked Republicans for their desire to cut the government spending that “made this country great,” while also faulting them for failing to “balance the budget.”

Obama said that Republicans have “one message and that is, we’re going to make sure that we cut people’s taxes even more — so that by every objective measure our deficit is worse and we will slash government investments that have made this country great,” he argued, “not because it’s going to balance the budget, but because it’s driven by our ideological vision about how government should be. That’s their agenda, pure and simple.”

The president should avoid attacking budgets for failing to balance. Senate Democrats have refused to propose a budget of any kind in over 1,000 days. President Obama’s budget included $3.6 trillion in new spending this year. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., proposed a plan to balance the budget in five years. The Republican Study Committee has also proposed a plan to balance the budget in five years.

“This president is completely irresponsible,” Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., told The Washington Examiner in a discussion of Obama’s budgetary policies. “He’s been in office three years. The problems that are facing us, that have us on the edge of the cliff — he’s avoided. It’s a cowardly thing to do as a world leader not to address the big problems . . . I really think it’s disgraceful.”

Joe Biden: I’m a Politician Because I Don’t Want a Real Job & he has never had one.

Joe Biden: I’m a Politician Because I Don’t Want a Real Job

Joe Biden has been a huge success when you see how he has never produced. He could not survived with a REAL job.

Vice President Joe Biden, long known for making embarrassing verbal gaffes, echoed the cynical criticism many people levy against career politicians, stating he had stayed in the Senate for 36 years because he didn’t want to get “a real job.”

Biden was speaking to a Democratic fundraiser in Chicago Thursday night, when he turned to praise the work of Richard M. Daley, the city’s former mayor of over 20 years.

“I never had an interest in being a mayor, ’cause that’s a real job. You have to produce,” Biden said, according to a White House pool report. “That’s why I was able to be a senator for 36 years.”

Joe Biden: ‘We Want To Create A Global Minimum Tax’

Biden: ‘We Want To Create A Global Minimum Tax’

“For years, American manufacturers have faced one of the highest tax rates in the world. We want to reduce that by over 20%. We want to drop the rate, particularly, for high-tech manufacturers like you, Mr. President, even further than the 20%,” Vice President Joe Biden said at a manufacturing plant in Davenport, Iowa this week.

“We want to create (what’s called) a global minimum tax, because American taxpayers shouldn’t be providing a larger subsidy for investing abroad than investing at home,” Biden said at a campaign event.
