Former Dem. Congressman Kennedy Alleges ‘Quid Pro Quo’ for Access to White House
By DANIEL HALPER

Access to the Obama White House is in direct correlation to the amount of money donated to the president’s reelection effort and the Democratic party, the New York Times reports today.

The Times reports: “those who donated the most to Mr. Obama and the Democratic Party since he started running for president were far more likely to visit the White House than others. Among donors who gave $30,000 or less, about 20 percent visited the White House, according to a New York Times analysis that matched names in the visitor logs with donor records. But among those who donated $100,000 or more, the figure rises to about 75 percent. Approximately two-thirds of the president’s top fund-raisers in the 2008 campaign visited the White House at least once, some of them numerous times.”

But the most explosive allegation in the news story comes from former Democratic congressman Patrick Kennedy, son of the late Ted Kenney, who calls what the Obama White House is doing “quid pro quo.”

Patrick J. Kennedy, the former representative from Rhode Island, who donated $35,800 to an Obama re-election fund last fall while seeking administration support for a nonprofit venture, said contributions were simply a part of “how this business works.”

“If you want to call it ‘quid pro quo,’ fine,” he said. “At the end of the day, I want to make sure I do my part.”

Mr. Kennedy visited the White House several times to win support for One Mind for Research, his initiative to help develop new treatments for brain disorders. While his family name and connections are clearly influential, he said, he knows White House officials are busy. And as a former chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, he said he was keenly aware of the political realities they face.

And Kennedy admits that folks in the White House are checking out the donor records:

“I know that they look at the reports,” he said, referring to records of campaign donations. “They’re my friends anyway, but it won’t hurt when I ask them for a favor if they don’t see me as a slouch.”

Literally translated, “quid pro quo” means “something for something.” As in, if you want something from the Obama White House, then give something (e.g., cash).

Senator Nelson, help reduce our nation’s $12.9 trillion debt.

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

This is a copy of email below I received from Sen. Nelson. This is just an example why he SHOULD resign and retire. He no longer works for the interest of the people who keep electing him.
“I am deeply involved in the Federal budget process”, if so WHERE IS THE BUDGET? “Our nation is at a critical juncture”, NO kidding! The government has caused or allowed most of the issues to exist and not the “free market” that no longer exists.
“Crucial funding is needed to improve infrastructure, boost the economy”, we already heard this song Senator!!! You wasted our tax dollars on a big spending spree and did not realy address the infrastructure did you! Now this is priceless, ” I firmly believe we should implement sound fiscal policies that will help reduce our nation’s $12.9 trillion debt.” No kidding!!!

This is a copy of email I received from Sen. Nelson.

Thank you for sharing your views on Congress and the nation’s spending priorities. As a member of the Senate Budget Committee, I am deeply involved in the Federal budget process.

Our nation is at a critical juncture. Increasing costs for health care and the recent economic downturn have left many people struggling to get by. Crucial funding is needed to improve infrastructure, boost the economy, provide for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and support our veterans. At the same time, emergency spending and outdated subsidies must not be allowed to continue indefinitely.

But then there is this, “I am an original cosponsor of S.2853, the Bipartisan Task Force for Responsible Fiscal Action Act of 2009, a bill that would expedite commonsense solutions”. Isn’t this the JOB of Congress?? Why do we have an unelected Task Force doing the job of Congress?? If this was one of the public companies the government seems to attack on a regular basis the management would be forced OUT… It is clearly time to force you and other anti American elitist out of office.

WE need term limits to help solve the problem. When we have life long elections of government officials we will always have elitist do nothings in government. MY God we had a KKK member die in office in his 90′s, was he the best the state had to offer??? Or was he in office and part of a system that keeps you in office once elected a couple times. Can you say Ted Kennedy, another example of the elitist out of control enslaving the American people with the intrusion of government into all parts of your life and taking your HARD earned money.

I firmly believe we should implement sound fiscal policies that will help reduce our nation’s $12.9 trillion debt. That’s why I am an original cosponsor of S.2853, the Bipartisan Task Force for Responsible Fiscal Action Act of 2009, a bill that would expedite commonsense solutions to the nation’s long-term fiscal challenges. Unfortunately, the legislation did not receive the necessary 60 votes to pass when it was offered as an amendment in the Senate.

It is essential that we break the log jam that has ensnarled Congress for over a decade and threatens the solvency of the Federal government. That’s why I supported the creation of the bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. The commission is comprised of private citizens and elected officials from across the political spectrum who are tasked with recommending solutions to the nation’s long-term fiscal challenges. I am hopeful their recommendations will jump start debate on how to improve the nation’s fiscal outlook.

As the Senate considers appropriations bills and measures to improve the state of our economy, I will work to ensure that spending reflects the values and priorities of Floridians. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future.
Sincerely,
Senator Bill Nelson

Sen. Nelson, let me suggest you get some help be reading a great American.
