Marco Expresses Concerns for NASA’s Future
On Thursday, Marco spoke on the Senate floor regarding the future of America’s space program, as the shuttle program prepared for its final mission. See an excerpt below, and watch that video here .

“And so tomorrow, Americans will proudly watch as Atlantis takes off for its last flight. It will be a pointed opportunity to recall the entire 30-year history of the shuttle program and all that has been achieved in 50 years of NASA’s existence and will be another opportunity to thank the thousands of men and women in Florida who have made this program possible and who take such pride in the shuttle and what it has accomplished. For NASA, just like our nation, it is at its best when it is looking forward, not looking back.”

Additionally, Marco spoke to CBS’s Chris Wagge on “The Early Show” about the importance of U.S. manned space flight for the state of Florida and the nation. In the same interview, Marco discussed the upcoming debt ceiling negotiations. Watch that interview here .

Marco Co-Sponsors E-Verify & Votes To End Ethanol Subsidies
This week, Marco signed on as an original co-sponsor to Sen. Chuck Grassley’s E-Verify bill, which would permanently reauthorize the E-Verify electronic employment verification system and make the utilization of this system mandatory. In commenting on this bill, Senator Rubio said:

“I know firsthand the great things that immigration has meant for America. Immigration is woven into the fabric of our nation and is a critical part of our future. But we can’t be the only nation in the world that does not enforce its immigration laws. Consistently, I have stated that a modernization of the legal immigration system is impossible unless we must first secure the border and implement an E-Verify system that will help prevent the hiring and exploitation of undocumented workers. That’s why I support Senator Charles Grassley’s bill to make E-Verify permanent.”

Marco also voted this week to end ethanol subsidies, citing it as bad energy policy. Read his statement below:

“I voted for Dr. Coburn’s amendment to repeal ethanol subsidies and import tariffs because forcing taxpayers to pick winners and losers is poor energy policy. I am also a proud co-sponsor of an amendment from Senator Jim DeMint’s which would end the top-down ethanol blending mandate and fully eliminate the death tax for small businesses and family farmers in Florida who are struggling everyday under the weight of Washington’s job-killing policies.”

Marco Rubio, Medicare is not a political talking point.

Senator Marco Rubio Why We Must Save Medicare.

As Marco pointed out in his Medicare op-ed in Thursday’s Miami Herald, Medicare is not a political talking point for him. Like so many of you, it is personal for him because his parents have both relied on the program for medical assistance with age-related ailments. Marco wants Medicare to continue to be able to help his generation and his children’s generation, but there’s one problem: Medicare is going bankrupt.

“Anyone who says it is not is simply lying. And anyone who is in favor of doing nothing to deal with this fact is in favor of bankrupting it. Medicare will go broke in as little as nine years. No one likes this news, but it is the undeniable truth. And the sooner we begin to deal with it, the better off we are all going to be.”

In order to save Medicare, Marco laid out the plans necessary to keep this important program solvent for future generations. His requirements are simple: no changes should be made to current beneficiaries; any plan must solve the problem and not simply delay Medicare’s bankruptcy; and no plan should hurt economic growth.

Marco Rubio working to help Seniors.

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

Big Government, Big Spending Bill Nelson finally decides to grabs hold of Marco Rubio ideas to do something to help seniors. Pro big government Dem Bill Nelson has FINALLY decided to help seniors and we thank him for following Marco Rubio with his new idea to make it easier on seniors at tax time.

Senators Rubio, Nelson Introduce “Seniors Tax Simplification Act”
Washington, D.C. – Florida’s two U.S. senators, Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson, today introduced S. 1006, the “Seniors Tax Simplification Act,” to simplify the tax code and filing requirements for seniors. The legislation would create a new 1040SR form that will allow for easier filing for Social Security benefits, as well as dividends, capital gains and interest.

A companion bill, H.R. 1058, has been introduced in the House by Congressman John Fleming, M.D. (R-LA). This legislation has been endorsed by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), the 60 Plus Association, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) and the National Taxpayer Union (NTU).

“Filing one’s taxes has become a dreaded experience, but this is especially so for seniors whose retirement finances are simple but still have to deal with a complicated filing process,” said Sen. Rubio. “For many seniors, paying taxes can and should be a lot easier than it is, and this new senior tax form will eliminate the hassle by making it easier to report their income each year.”

“Seniors are not alone when it comes to dreading doing their tax returns,” said Sen. Nelson. “Almost everybody complains about the hours it takes and seemingly endless complex forms. So this legislation is a good step in the right direction. Hopefully, we’ll be able to simplify the tax code next.”

“As the sponsor of the Seniors Tax Simplification Act in the House of Representatives, I’m very delighted to be working with Senators Rubio and Nelson from Florida on this simple yet significant legislation for seniors,” said Rep. Fleming. “The leadership of both these senators from such an important state as Florida will ensure a very bright prospect for this bill’s passage. My cosponsors and I in the House will be working very hard to make this important bill become a reality.”

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND ON SENIORS TAX SIMPLIFICATION ACT

Under current law, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) makes filing a tax return more difficult for seniors by prohibiting taxpayers over the age of 65 from using the one-page form 1040EZ, even if they have a simple return and choose not to itemize deductions. This is because the form 1040EZ does not include a line for pension and Social Security income. Instead, seniors are required to file using the far more complicated form 1040 and its numerous schedules.

The Seniors Tax Simplification Act will provide a basic, easy-to-read form called the 1040SR for senior taxpayers earning Social Security, retirement benefits, interest and capital gains. The Joint Committee on Taxation has reviewed this legislation and stated that the enactment of this law will have no revenue effect and will not add to the debt.

Tea Party Racists Love Cain
By Max Tollens

I just love listening to the Liberal talking heads and their media lapdogs who refuse to challenge them. If you listen to blabbermouths like Chris Matthews and others of his ilk, you would think that we Tea Party members have all been fitted for white robes and hoods. You would think we’re all collecting fuel for the next cross burning and are preparing to start a race war.

I am of Hispanic heritage (and Catholic) so I would be as welcome at the next Klan or Neo-Nazi rally as would a Black Panther. In fact, I’m sure the Black Panthers wouldn’t want my help in attempting to intimidate White voters either. Thank goodness the Tea Party will accept me amongst their “racist” ranks.

So why is it that so many Tea Party members were impressed with Herman Cain after last night’s debate in South Carolina? I was under the impression that the Tea Party was racist because of their opposition to President Obama. If the Tea Party is opposed to Obama, why would they want to replace him with another Black President?

You already know the answer-why did the Tea Party support Allen West and Marco Rubio in Florida? Substance over style. These gentlemen clearly represent the America we know and love despite their differences from “White” America. Herman Cain is very much in the vein of West and Rubio, and I believe he would make a better President than the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

America is the land of opportunity, regardless of your skin color. We’ve elected our first Black President who has also turned out to be our most Socialist and polarizing President. We’ve broken the color barrier-now let’s expand our horizons and vote for a President based on character instead of skin color.

Senator Rubio Comments On Senate’s Failure To Rein In Spending “I Did Not Come To The U.S. Senate To Be Part Of Some Absurd Political Theatre”

Senate Fails To Pass Continuing Resolution To Fund Government This Year
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio today commented after his vote in favor of H.R. 1, the continuing resolution to finance the government, which failed in the Senate. The House-passed measure would have made $57 billion in spending reductions for the remaining fiscal year ending on September 30, while also defunding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) enforcement of job-destroying numeric nutrient regulations for Florida.
“I supported this first step towards getting our fiscal house in order, but the truth is that America has reached a point where saving $57 billion is a mere drop in the bucket when compared to our $14 trillion debt,” said Rubio. “While reducing discretionary spending is an important goal, Washington is devoting a disproportionate amount of time to a tiny slice of the budget while ignoring the fact that continued inaction on saving Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is bankrupting our country.”
In a second Continuing Resolution vote today, Rubio opposed a Democrat substitute proposal that called for just $4.7 billion in cuts for the remaining fiscal year.
“The Democrat proposal to cut just $4.7 billion for the rest of the year is dangerously inadequate, a non-starter and does not take seriously a debt crisis which is impeding job creation in our economy,” added Rubio. “This proposal would be laughable if our budget predicament weren’t so dire.”

U.S. Sen.-elect Marco Rubio joins earmark ban effort

WASHINGTON — Marco Rubio will not be sworn in as Florida’s new U.S. senator until January, but he has already landed in an intensifying fight over political pork.

Rubio this week signed onto an effort by Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., to seek a ban on budget earmarks among Republicans in the chamber. The new House GOP leaders have already instituted a moratorium.

“I think earmarks are bad for our country,” Rubio said in an interview before Election Day.

But DeMint’s budding coalition of lawmakers (14 as of Wednesday) is meeting resistance from veteran Republicans who defend the process as a responsibility of office and accuse critics of playing politics.

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., said Tuesday he would challenge DeMint when the Senate reconvenes next week and call him out as an earmarker back when the practice was not unpopular.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, meanwhile, was quietly working against the proposed ban. He argues Congress should not turn over spending decisions to the executive branch.

Please, Florida has had more than enough of the elitist Gov. Charlie Crist.

Florida, Vote for ideas & ethics.. Marco Rubio.

Monday, September 27th, 2010

We have less than 36 days until the election to finally let Floridians have their say. Send a message that elections matter, that principles stand for something, and that our voice can make a difference. We can say “No more” to politicians who are willing to sacrifice principles and say or do anything just to win.

Rubio calls election ‘referendum on national identity’

Rubio calls election ‘referendum on national identity’
By Steve Bousquet
Thousands of determined tea party activists converged in a park in America’s oldest city Saturday and heard a succession of Republican candidates promise to heed their demands for less government and lower taxes.
Small-business owners, retirees, veterans and even government workers spoke with one voice: They want ideological purity from politicians.
They want government to take less of their money and leave them alone.
They said they are sick of runaway deficits, career politicians and RINOs (Republicans in name only) who say all the right things while they’re running but fail to do what they say once they’re in office. They said the political elites have no idea how strongly everyday people feel that the government is broken and America is not living up to people’s expectations.
The four-hour “Forward with the Constitution Rally” was organized by tea party groups in an 11-county region in northeast Florida, and was far and away the largest event of the 2010 campaign season in Florida.

“This election is nothing less than a referendum of our identity as a nation and as a people,” Rubio said, calling 2010 an historic moment “when people were pushed to the brink.” When he complained of go-along-to-get-along Republican politicians, people in the audience chimed in, “That’s right.”

Rubio, who faces Democrat Kendrick Meek and Gov. Charlie Crist running as an independent, exuded confidence, and when someone in the crowd suggested he run for president, he said: “Listen, I would settle for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
It was a bad day for President Barack Obama and the federal healthcare mandate known as “Obamacare,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the mainstream media, activist judges, Crist and career politicians of any stripe, including Republicans.
