’60 Minutes’ Uncovers Pelosi’s Insider Stock Trades

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi bought stock in initial public offerings (IPOs) that earned hefty returns while she had access to insider information that would have been illegal for an average citizen to trade with – even though it’s perfectly legal for elected officials, CBS’s “60 Minutes” reported Sunday night.

In a piece relying on data collected from the conservative Hoover Institution, “60 Minutes” revealed that elected officials like Pelosi are exempt from insider trading laws – regulations that carry hefty prison sentences and fines for any other citizen who trades stocks with private information on companies that can affect their stock price.

In the case of elected officials – this secret information ranges from timely details on lucrative federal contracts to legislation that can cause companies’ stocks to rise and fall dramatically.

How do they get away with it? Lawmakers have exempted themselves from the laws that govern every other citizen.

Pelosi, D-Calif., and her husband have participated in at least eight IPOs while having access to information directly relating to the companies involved. One of those came in 2008, from Visa, just as a troublesome piece of legislation that would have hurt credit card companies, began making its way through the House. “Undisturbed by a potential conflict of interest the Pelosis purchased 5,000 shares of Visa at the initial price of $44 dollars. Two days later it was trading at $64. The credit card legislation never made it to the floor of the House,” Steve Kroft of “60 Minutes” reported.

Kroft confronted Pelosi at a regular press conference after she declined an interview.

Watch Nancy Pelosi the Elitist pig in her own words// The socialist needs to be removed from office.
In an interview late last week, House Minority Leaeder Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told CNBC that Boeing should either unionize its production facilities in South Carolina, or shut them down entirely.

“Do you think it’s right that Boeing has to close down that plant in South Carolina because it’s non union?” asked host Maria Bartiromo. Pelosi’s reply: “Yes.”

The minority leader quickly added that she would rather it simply unionize and stay open. But barring unionization, by Pelosi’s reasoning, it should simply shut down.

Boeing is the target of a suit from the National Labor Relations Board, which accused the company of retaliation against a machinists’ union in its decision to open a new plant in South Carolina, a right-to-work state, instead of Washington State.

Pelosi may or may not know that workers at the South Carolina plant in question voted resoundingly (199-68) to decertify their union two years ago. Government policies that would close the plant for being a non-union shop would simply be punishing those workers for exercising their right to determine union representation for themselves.

“The Administration is trying to foist unions on workers, whether they want them or not, whether union representation would help them or not,” Heritage’s James Sherk noted in response to Pelosi’s statement. As for the more general issue of Boeing’s suit, Sherk called it “a good way of discouraging businesses from building new factories or plants.”

DNC Chair and Pelosi Call for Weiner to Resign

Read more on Newsmax.com: DNC Chair and Pelosi Call for Weiner to Resign
Obama still must be supporting The Weiner as he has not call on him to resign but has plentey of time to play golf!!!
Under fierce pressure from fellow Democrats to resign in a sexting scandal, Rep. Anthony Weiner announced Saturday he was entering professional treatment at an undisclosed location and requested a leave of absence from Congress.

An aide for the embattled New York lawmaker made the disclosure in a statement shortly after several Democratic party leaders demanded he quit for exchanging messages and photos ranging from sexually suggestive to explicit with several women online.

“This sordid affair has become an unacceptable distraction for Representative Weiner, his family, his constituents and the House,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the party chairwoman, said in a written statement calling for the 46-year-old married lawmaker to step down.

The House Democratic leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, said Weiner “has the love of his family, the confidence of his constituents and the recognition that he needs help. I urge Congressman Weiner to seek that help without the pressures of being a member of Congress.”

Aides said later that Pelosi had been aware of Weiner’s plan to enter treatment when she issued her statement, and her call for a resignation had not changed because of it.

Weiner’s spokeswoman, Risa Heller, said in the statement that the congressman departed during the morning “to seek professional treatment to focus on becoming a better husband and healthier person. In light of that, he will request a short leave of absence from the House of Representatives so that he can get evaluated and map out a course of treatment to make himself well.”

The statement did not say where he would receive treatment, or what type was involved. Others familiar with his plans said he had left New York by air.

Also joining in calls for Weiner to quit was Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and a member of the party’s leadership.

In an interview, Israel said he had told Weiner in a phone call during the day “that I was going to call on him to resign and he absorbed that. Obviously he had much more personal and pressing issues that he was addressing.

“He didn’t give me any indication of whether he was going to resign or not,” Israel said.

Pelosi also spoke with Weiner during the day to let him know that she, too, would be joining the calls for resignation.

The developments occurred one day after Weiner acknowledged he had exchanged online messages with a 17-year-old girl in Delaware. He said nothing improper had passed between the two of them.

Nor was there even an allegation that Weiner had a physical relationship with any of the women with whom he maintained virtual relationships. That made his case a departure from the norm, a sex scandal without sex, a phenomenon of the age of Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

Democrats said the concerted call for a resignation had been brewing for days, as senior party officials concluded the scandal was interfering with their attempts to gain political momentum in advance of the 2012 elections.

“We had decided we were not going to have one more week of Anthony Weinergate,” said one official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

This official added that Pelosi and Israel had spoken numerous times in the past several days with Weiner, hoping to persuade him to step down for the good of the party, telling him that because of the media focus on his predicament, their attacks on a Republican Medicare proposal were largely unnoticed.

Publicly, Pelosi, Wasserman Schultz and others had been notably reticent in the days since Weiner held a news conference on Monday to announce he had exchanged lewd photos, and more, with a handful of women.

On Thursday, an X-rated photo surfaced on a website, and in response, Weiner’s office issued a statement that did not deny it had been taken of him.

The Democratic National Committee was so eager to downplay the controversy that earlier in the week, spokesman Brad Woodhouse referred calls to Wasserman Schultz’ House office, saying Weiner’s predicament was a congressional matter.

Her statement demanding a resignation, five days later, was issued by the DNC.

The White House declined comment on the matter, and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y, his state’s dominant Democrat, maintained a public silence after an initial statement issued on Monday.

The statement by Weiner’s aide did not specify how long a leave of absence the congressman would seek. According to one Democratic aide, leaves are granted automatically once a lawmaker requests one, and no vote or other type of acquiescence by the House is required. It is not known whether any other lawmakers are currently on leave.

Until disclosing he was seeking treatment, Weiner had given no indication he was considering anything other than returning to the Capitol on Monday when the House returns from a week-long break — raising the prospect of a circus-like atmosphere when the news media attempted to track his whereabouts.

He ran some personal errands near his home in Queens during the morning, and said he was looking forward to getting back to work quickly.

“I’ve made some mistakes. I’ve acknowledged it. I’m trying to make it up to my wife and my family,” he said. “I’m working hard to get back to normal.”

As he walked to a neighborhood dry cleaner with a load of shirts over one arm he wore an anguished look on his face, but fielded questions politely and paused several times to accept well wishes from neighbors and constituents.

Asked how his wife was taking the scandal, Weiner said, “She’s doing well. She’s a remarkable woman.”

Weiner is married to Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Abedin, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child, is traveling with Clinton in Africa until the middle of next week.

She was not in attendance on Monday when Weiner held his news conference, choosing to avoid the stand-by-your-man-moment that has become standard in other sex scandals in recent years.

Democrats continue to fail. WHERE is Obama and his leadership (lol).

Cancelled: There Will Be No Congressional Budget This Year
***The Following Is An Important Fiscal Health Announcement***

Washington (Jun 22)
In light of House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s (D-MD) announcement this morning that House Democrats will not pass a budget this year – failing to fulfill what he has called “the most basic responsibility” of governing – the following important fiscal health warning has been issued:

THE BUDGET HAS BEEN

CANCELLED

WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT

THE CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET

PLANNED FOR FISCAL YEAR 2011 HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WASHINGTON DEMOCRATS’ OUT-OF-CONTROL SPENDING SPREE.

AN APOLOGY FOR THIS BETRAYAL OF AMERICAN TAXPAYERS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE FORTHCOMING AT THIS TIME.

BE ADVISED THAT THE FOLLOWING SERVICES WILL BE INTERRUPTED:

Imposing the fiscal discipline economists say is needed to create jobs and boost our economy

Reining in the out-of-control spending spree that is killing American jobs

Carrying out the “most basic responsibility of governing”

Stopping middle-class tax hikes that will sock family budgets at the worst possible time

Providing the leadership on jobs and the economy that Americans say is sorely lacking

Protecting our kids and grandkids from the enormous debt burden Washington has placed on them

We reserve the right to notify you of additional consequences that may arise in light of this budget failure, which is unprecedented in the modern era. In the interim, please brace for more spending, more debt, more tax hikes, more broken promises.

For families and small businesses looking for a government that listens to the people it serves and respects their hard-earned money, House Republicans are offering better solutions to cut spending now and help small businesses put people back to work.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta)(CNSNews.com) – While pointing out that it is the responsibility of the federal government to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) said Thursday it is cheaper to treat teens for drug use than it is to interdict drugs being smuggled across the border.

This is what the Health Care Bill is really about:

Lobbyists and Labor Unions
Media reports indicate Democrats were working overtime this weekend with pharmaceutical lobbyists to craft language that would benefit a few huge companies. Pharmaceutical companies previously struck a related deal with the White House. They report the President promised to protect their interests if they would publicly support his bill. And today those pharmaceutical companies began to payback Obama, Pelosi and Reid by purchasing TV ad time meant to protect vulnerable Democrats.

Labor unions and their lobbyists continue to push for exemptions from the new taxes on health insurance. Democrats want to use reconciliation to pay off these union bosses—making sure they don’t have to pay the tax that will be forced upon other American families.

And though we don’t know exactly what happened behind closed doors—Democrats went to great lengths to protect trial lawyers by blocking medical lawsuit reform.

Backroom Deals for Democrats
Democrats MIGHT try to remove the “Cornhusker Kickback”—a special deal given to Senator Nelson to win over his vote in December. But their bill is FULL of other special deals for endangered Democrats. Politico reports that none of these other special deals “appear to be in any kind of danger.”

Some of the backroom deals include:

The “Louisiana Purchase”: a $300 million special deal for Louisiana. [Bill page 428]
“Gator Aid”: a provision that protects Florida seniors from Medicare cuts. Seniors in all 49 other states will see benefits cut under this bill. [Page 878]
Increased Medicaid payments to Hawaii—a benefit that will be paid for by the other 49 states. [Page 2132]
Special Medicare coverage for the people of Libby, MT. That’s right, a special provision for the people of one town. [Page 2222]
$100 million to construct a hospital in Connecticut. [Page 2354]
An exemption from new taxes for ONE Michigan insurance company. [Page 2394]
